Hyundai Will Replace Lighter with USB


Seoul - Hyundai Motor on Thursday will propose to replace the cigarette lighter in a vehicle with a USB power point .

As quoted by AFP , the measure applies to Hyundai products for the Korean domestic market .

Vehicles are no longer fitted the cigarette lighter socket covers all passenger vehicles , including sport utility vehicle ( SUV ) .

Hyundai spokesman suggested steps to be taken starting in October is " the first time that an automotive company " .

He also said Hyundai will conduct a survey to customers in other countries to find out if such a move could also apply there .

Hyundai move was made after a survey in the country they conclude that many drivers use a cigarette lighter to recharge the batteries and not the phone or tablet to light a cigarette .

Hyundai revealed an ashtray in the vehicle will be maintained and the smokers just buy lighter with a USB plug .

Lighter in the United States and Europe are no longer standard equipment on the vehicle because the socket is more often used for plugs charge repeated .
