Toyota FT-4X Concept "75%" Ready for Production

Toyota features the FT-4X concept car at the 2017 New York International Auto Show which runs from 14 to 23 April. Ian Cartabiano, head of Toyota FT-4X designer and head of Toyota Calty design studio in California, told Car Advice that the crossover concept is ready for production.
"We are always designing at 75 percent stage, we can make this real," he said after the car's introduction. 
The designer said, "The production design has really improved their game, and if we can make Toyota C-HR, we can make this car. Wait and watch."
Cartabiano said Toyota has a good record of concept cars, such as the FJ Cruiser, FT-1, C-HR, and FT-X being the production versions of the Tundra.
One feature that will be the center of attention if the FT-4X does enter the production version, is a back door that can be opened in two ways, which is opened up, or two parts of doors that can "split" left and right, like the back door MINI Clubman.
"It's not nonsense, we really started from the back ... and it's really usable," he said. Cartabiano compares the FT-4X with C-HR using the same platform.
"They are very similar but this car has a more spacious interior.FT-4X is designed for dirt, unlike C-HR," he said, while likening the car can be used to camp in it.
