Volkswagen Introduces More Efficient New Machine

Wolfsburg - The top-selling car, Volkswagen, introduces its new-generation engine, aimed at targeting new protective consumers who prefer better fuel efficiency, than about tight power.

The stance, which uses one machine for several models, has been used by many brands to achieve economies of scale with the end of cost efficiency. The new platform uses the existing EA888 2.0L gasoline engine, and is reset to fuel up to 8 percent better.

Models like the Tiguan, and the latest versions of Passat and Beetle, will be offered with this new engine variant, which is named B-cycle. VW parties say, they modify this machine with a shorter intake valve timing, longer exhaust valve timing and high compression.

That will allow the 2.0L engine to offer power such as 1.8L engine size, but with the fuel economy capability of 1.4L engine or 1.5L inline-four. In the Tiguan 2018 model, this engine produces 184 hp power and 210 pound-feet of torque.

While the third generation EA888 2.0L or currently available, is still used on VW-powered car models, such as one of the sporty GTI. This model has power up to 220 tk, and will continue to be marketed as market needs.

It may take some time to convince customers, if two machines of this same size, have very different operating dynamics and fuel savings.

"So in the end, we'll offer both these machines in parallel, and tailored to different power classes. Having these two machines, which are part of the same hardware, makes us have many scales, "says Marcel Zirwes, Product Manager of VW Powertrain.
