Scientists Design Anti Sleepiness Car

Ilmuwan Rancang Mobil Anti KantukVALENCIA - A new prototype system designed to prevent the driver from accidents caused by drowsiness. The system works by measuring the heart rate and respiration system driver.

This system was developed by the Institute of Biomechanics (IBV) in Valencia, Spain. The sensor system embedded in the car, there is a sensor in the seat belt is intended to monitor the heart rate.

While existing sensors in the seat cover to measure respiratory function. When the sensor detects the driver is asleep, the alarm goes off to wake the driver before he lost control.

This research was funded by the European Union, the project itself is called Harken. Harken consists of sensor seat cover and seat belts, equipped with a hidden signal processing units, which process data in real-time.

"The heart rate and respiratory rate is a good indicator to show the state of the driver is tired," said Jose Solaz, director of market innovation IBV field, automatic car and mass transportation as reported by Mashable.
