1. Note Cars Equipments
Turn on the headlights to help your eyesight when road conditions are already low light and foggy. Use fog lights if the vehicle is equipped with this type of lamp.
Try not to use hazard lights unless the car you drive into obstacles that must be avoided by other riders. Make sure the wipers in good condition because of worn wipers do not wipe water efficiently. As a result, the pouring of water on the windshield of the car will reduce visibility.
2. Note the Tire Pressure
Check tire pressure and flow. The pressure that is too hard will reduce traction on the road surface. Conversely, the lack of car tire pressure will cause the car easier to slip on wet roads.
3. Use Cruise Control
Cruise control system should not be enabled on wet roads. Cruise control served to accelerate or slow down the vehicle to remain in a predetermined speed.
When the tires lose grip on wet roads, the wheel will naturally begin to slow down and will continue to slow until the amendment in accordance with the actual vehicle speed when the grip point is returned.
If Cruise Control is enabled, the system will detect the slowdown and will try to accelerate to speed up again. This will cause one or all of the tires lose grip entirely. This situation can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle completely.
4. Avoiding aquaplaning
Slow it down while crossing water on the road to minimize the risk of slippage and adds a safe distance with the vehicle in front. Lower speed also reduces the likelihood of slippage due to waterlogging (aquaplaning). This situation occurs when the tire tread no longer deliver water from the road surface. As a result, the tires begin to "float" on the water layer and from this point, the tire (and vehicle) will slip.
Motorists can realize aquaplaning when the steering suddenly felt light and the vehicle does not respond to steering movements. Another symptom is the rider look round the engine (RPM) up and down suddenly, but without an increase in speed.
It is usually accompanied by a feeling of vehicle "twitch" (when the tires lose grip for a moment, before regaining control). It is a sign that you begin to experience Aquaplane tires.
When aquaplaning occurs, the driver must reduce speed without braking by reducing the acceleration gradually. Wait for the vehicle to slow down and allow the tires to regain grip. If the vehicle starts to skid, the driver must keep the steering wheel to the intended direction until the car goes straight again. Keep constant pressure and light on the gas pedal. Driving subtly is the key.
5. Smart Driving
Drive gently and avoid sudden braking or steering deflect suddenly as this may memggoyahkan grip of your vehicle. Brake before you enter the curve. Add speed subtly.
Remain in the center or nearby, or at the top of the road, because water tends to gather at the edge of the road. Remember not to hinder the other riders who move faster - do not make their own traffic laws.
Keep your distance from the vehicle in front to avoid spray that causes the dirty glass. This is important especially if you are behind a large vehicle. If possible, mengemudilah in the path left by the vehicle in front because this part is drier than other parts of the road.
