Subaru Effort to Compete with Fortuner, Escape, and Pajero Sport
Los Angeles - Subaru confirms that their -third row seats- SUV will be named Ascent. Prospective competitors of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Escape, and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be equipped with turbo boxer engine, exactly the same as the concept version.
Subaru Ascent derived from the concept Viziv-7 debut in the event the Los Angeles Auto Show last year. Scene design follows the style of the so-called "Dynamic x Solid", carrying the sturdy fender and a large grille to emphasize the strong impression SUV.
Inside, the concept is to use the dashboard called "flow". Uniquely, the second row captain seats use a different type. Steering wheel buttons have multiple functions, and the surface of the dashboard will be dominated by a touch function, including the door panel.
Shown in concept, design "flow" on the panel of the entertainment system is equipped with a large touch screen, and can operate at room temperature. Then, other smaller screens, duty as a digital instrument panel.
The production version will be standing on the Subaru Global Platform which was launched last year. The plan, this model will be manufactured in Lafayette, Indiana, United States.
An important note, these Ascent concept has a length of 5,049 mm, width 1,989 mm, height 1,839 mm. Wheelbase 2,972 mm, with size 275/50 R21 tires. Subaru will sell the production version of Ascent exclusively for the market of North America began in 2018.
