Code of Speed Limits for Motorcycles Tires

Tires are an important aspect of the vehicle. It is the only part in direct contact with the asphalt or other roads. Therefore, users should be well aware of the specifications.
One specification that must be known is how much the speed limit of a tire. This information can be known by looking at the existing letter code on the tire wall. In the tire wall we can also know the code of the compound to the direction of rotation.
Satoshi Akatsuka, Head of Product Development of IRC Japan, said that motor sport or motorcycle with high tire code generally "H". H means the maximum limit of the tire is 210 km / h and digeber continuously for one full hour.
"H rated is a high performance tire, while Z rated is ultra high performance. This is the classification of radial tires," said Akatsuka.
In addition to H and J, there are several other ratings that become the maximum limit of tire speed. In total there are 15 ratings that have been set internationally. The "Moped" rating as the lowest rating, for example, shows that the maximum limit of motor speed that the tire can tolerate in an hour is 50 km / h.
While the highest rating is ZR. This means the tire can tolerate speeds of up to 240 km / h in an hour.
The implication of passing this boundary is that the tire can blow because it is not strong enough to retain heat from friction from high speed.
Here's a list of tire ratings with full maximum limits (in km / h):
-Moped: 50-J: 100

-K: 110

-L: 120-M: 130-P: 150-Q: 160-R: 170-S: 180-T: 190-U: 200-H: 210-V: 240-W: 270-ZR: more than 240
