Hybrid Technology for Motorcycle

Munich - The hybrid technology not only be used for cars. Motor bikes had already used a similar technology which combines combustion engines and electric motors.BMW Motorrad has recently introduced R 1200 GS Hybrid xDrive. As stated in the official press release, the R 1200 GS Hybrid xDrive is the first enduro motorcycle technology equipped with Hybrid All-Wheel Drive.BMW R 1200 GS Hybrid xDrive uses a base R 1200 GS Adventure. This motorcycle carrying two-cylinder boxer engine air / liquid cooled. Machines that deliver power up to 125 horsepower at 7,750 rpm and torque of 125 Nm at 6500 rpm through to the rear wheel axle.

But, the motor is also driven by electric motors and generators for the front wheels. So, there is an additional 45 horsepower on this bike. In total, two-wheel motorcycle is capable of spewing power up to 170 horsepower.All-wheel drive system can be operated automatically or manually by the rider. The rider can choose 2WD driving mode via a button (Two-Wheel Drive) on the left side of the handlebar.

Claimed, the two-wheel drive system, the R 1200 GS Hybrid xDrive is able to provide better traction on slippery roads, sandy or muddy.
