Brussels,
KompasOtomotif - Toyota Yaris already introduced a racing version that
will be struggling in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2017. Today,
Japan's biggest car brand began teasing the public with a new sketch,
suspected variant of "high-performance" of its flagship hatchback which would be sold in bulk.
The
model is inspired by the Yaris WRC, is so that consumers can feel the
experience is not much different with the racing version. This is also the realization of speech Johan van Zyl, President and
CEO of Toyota Europe last October 2016, when Toyota first announced his
return to the WRC.
"There's no point foray into motorsport, if it can not reflect them in your product. Our Toyota Europe, wanted to give something to the market (new
products), which will reflect our participation in WRC, "said Zyl quote
AutoExpress, Tuesday (13/212/2016).
"I
am also a person who loves cars, so I would like to see that people
like me are enthusiastic about motorsport, can truly experience the same
experience. Just like people who like to wear Nike shoes are the same
as the athletes, even though they can not run fast , "said Zyl.
Yaris
high-performance, is likely to be based on the Yaris facelift coming
next year, and slide in the Tokyo Motor Show 2017. Speculation,
turbocharged engine option is a 1.5-liter with the same features as in
the C-HR, can emit power up to 180bhp. This will put the Yaris as a rival Polo GTi and the Fiesta ST.
From these sketches, shows the new profile of the Yaris, with aggressive body kit styled three-door. Version
of "racing" is likely to adopt the name of Gazoo Racing, which will be a
new sub-brand for high-performance model of Toyota's future.
