Audi Prepare Pure Electric Crossover for US

Frankfurt - Audi AG plans to launch a new model in the crossover segment pure electric tech start 2017. This model is specially prepared to challenge the dominance of Tesla Motors in the United States, targeting the consumer aware of the prosperous and pollution-free environment.

This product will be the first pure electric car Audi released to the mass consumer. Next year, Audi's start by introducing the R8 racing car also pure electric powered, following the start marketed A3 E-Tron plug-in hybrid technology.

"Our engineers continue to work. It looks like will be a crossover, but development work is still ongoing," explained Rupert Stadler, CEO of Audi reported by Bloomberg, in Berlin (12/04/2014).

Tesla has managed to position itself as a manufacturer of premium electric car in the US. Its presence is quite intimidating traditional premium brands from Germany. Manufacturers are fronted by billionaire Elon Musk plans to release its first SUV in 2015.

Tesla's success is also evidenced by the title of the most satisfying car consumers of the nonprofit Consumer Reports magazine reports. Audi had to settle ranked third, after Porsche, Mercedes-Benz while entrenched in the top four.

Audi, the premium car manufacturer in the world's second largest, targets to sell 1.7 million vehicles this year. Volkswagen Group subsidiary is hoping to shift the dominance of BMW in the US market in 2020 and became one of the key.

In the US, Audi sales rose 15 percent this year is greater than the record result achieved last year (2013), 158 061 units. "Our growth in the US shall continue. We put our views on the results of 200,000 units, when it reaches it, we look to 300,000 units at one point, whether it will be achieved in 2020, 2022, or 2023, I do not really care," explained Stadler.

Audi also confirmed that it will launch a model of plug-in hybrid technology per year, starting with A3 E-Tron this year.
