Seoul - Starting from approving GT Concept is a sports car entered production phase , KIA preparing another model in order to give a new image of the company as a manufacturer of sporty cars .
KIA reportedly been given the green light for production phase of GT Concept that debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 mat .
Based on the rear-wheel drive platform , it is possible if the production version later will use front-wheel drive .
" We have plans to produce GT . We are targeting the end of 2016 or early 2017 , " said VP of Global Marketing Soon - Nam Lee told AutoExpress .
GT Concept that will change in the production version of the four-door sedan into the coupe , as well as will be opening the doors of other sports car made by KIA .
One of them is already prepared is a sports car , possibly a roadster , which later would directly challenge the Mazda MX - 5 .
Although not yet approved to enter the production phase , the car is reportedly going to be on display at the North American International Auto Show 2014 which will be used at the same time to test the market response KIA .
