AMT, Transmission and Clutch Operated Automatically
Hamamatsu - Suzuki India ( Maruti - Suzuki ) have their own way to develop an automatic transmission is less popular in the country . To facilitate the work of the driver's shifting gears without having to operate the clutch and the transmission rod , is developing a manual transmission that automatically operated and called " Automated Manual Transmission " ( AMT ) or " Auto Gear Shift " ( AGS ) .
So , basically the same as with a manual transmission that has been used so far , consists of gears that remain in pairs and comes with a friction clutch . Strictly speaking , not using a torque converter or planetary gears and pulleys with belt in the CVT .
Actually , the way the operation is similar to a dual clutch transmission ( double clutch ) that is widely used by European car manufacturers at this time ( Honda also use it on a motorcycle ) that is operated automatically through a device or system that works in electro - hydraulically controlled by electronics . So similar to the working robot !
According to Suzuki Motor Corporation , the electro - hydraulic actuator works to operate the clutch and shift gears automatically. This section is mounted directly on the transmission of a conventional 5-speed manual .
Suzuki claims , gearshift on the AMT went smoothly because of operational synchronization clutch , shift gears and rev the engine is regulated by a computer .
Because the base of conventional manual transmission , fuel consumption is still economical to use . Interestingly enough, to get the effect of " creep " or creeping like a conventional automatic transmission , Suzuki also made in this transmission . In this way , it helps the driver when parked or stuck in severe traffic jam ! Added , this transmission can also be operated manually !
Suzuki will be introduced on February 5 at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2014.
