Follow Ford, GM Develops Aluminum Truck
DETROIT - After Ford 'm developing a new model of its flagship double cabin truck F - 150 berbodi aluminum , now turn to General Motors ( GM ) , which plans to develop a truck made from aluminum .
Reported by the Wall Street Journal , the U.S. manufacturer has even cooperated with aluminum supplier Alcoa Inc. and Novelis Inc. . As the first model to be developed using aluminum is the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra , and will be completed next four years.
After developing the two trucks GM also plans to switch to using aluminum truck that has a lighter weight . It is planned to be realized late 2018.
" Ford will introduce F - 150 2015 aluminum , it will be the first . However not the last because there will still be the same development , " said a spokeswoman novelist , Charles Belbin .
Ford F - 150 2015 to get a reduction in body weight up to 700 kg lighter than the current generation model . The pickup truck itself will go on sale in the fourth kuarta this year .
