Volvo Set Up Automatic Steering Vehicle
Gothenburg (Reuters ) - Volvo is preparing a vehicle with automatic steering ." The system also controls the gas and brake wheel so that the vehicle
remains on track , " said Andreas Ekenberg , engineers at Volvo Active
Safety , told Reuters TV .Ekenberg said that when he was in the Volvo vehicle speeding down the highway with the automatic steering system .The technology is proven to function , but Volvo is to make sure the
system is also reliable in the actual environment , when faced with a
variety of vehicles .Volvo plans in 2017 will operate 100 vehicles simultaneously automatic steering in the streets of Gothenburg , Sweden ." Vehicle - vehicle automatic steering it would be in traffic as usual
, they will be driving in the same lane and do not need special markers
, " said Ekenberg .One of the goals of the project , further Ekenberg , is to figure out
how the surrounding traffic will react to vehicles with automatic
steering .Project called " Drive Me " is a collaboration of Volvo and Swedish governments .Susanne Planath from the Swedish Department of Transportation says
there will be a significant benefit by freeing people from the steering
wheel .According to him , the automatic steering is not to get people to do
other things in the car , but it will make driving safer because the car
can respond and know the circumstances around it ." Our hope is that the number of accidents reduced to almost zero , " said Susanne Planath .
